Dwight Howard is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Additionally, he had played center during his high school basketball career at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy. During that span, the NBA champion was an eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time All-Defensive Team member and three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Dwight Howard: biography, family, early career

The player was born on December 8, 1985 as Dwight David Howard II in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born the son of Dwight Sr. and Sheryl Howard, a family with strong sports connections. Before he was born, his mother had seven miscarriages. He has an American nationality and follows Christianity since his youth.
