Ahmad Suradji was an Indonesian cattle herder who later became a serial killer following a dream in which he claimed his father asked him to drink the saliva of 70 women for greater spiritual powers. In addition to herding cattle, the famous serial killer was a wizard who practiced black magic. According to records, he managed to murder 42 women in cold blood by strangling them with a cable. As part of the ritual process, he is said to have buried them waist-deep in a nearby sugarcane plantation, always with their heads facing his house. His victims were all women between the ages of 11 and 30 and his killing spree lasted eleven years before his eventual arrest and final execution in 1997.

Ahmad Suradji who is also known by both names Datuk Maringgi and Nasib Kelewang was born in Medan, Indonesia on December 12, 1952. Ahmad Suradji spent all his years in Medan, capital of the Indonesian province of North Sumatra. He made his living as a cattle herder and belonged to the dunkun, a class of shamans said to possess supernatural powers. After three days, her decomposing naked body was discovered in the sugar cane plantation in the immediate vicinity of Ahmad’s house. He was later exhumed and the case reported to the police.

Although he initially tried to deny the allegations, the serial killer later admitted his crime and led authorities to discover more than 41 other decomposed bodies during searches.

He is a shaman
According to Ahmad Suradji, he is the kind of spiritualist called dutak. Technically speaking, the Indonesian government only recognizes six religions which include both Christianity and Islam. But the population believes in magic and different healing practices. They saw Ahmad as a shaman capable of making women more beautiful. They also believe that he can grant them wealth and the chance to find faithful husbands and friends, all through his spiritual powers.
His victims came to him willingly
Ahmad Suradji did not need to seek out his victims as they willingly come in large numbers in search of spiritual powers. Word of his magical gift had already spread through his village and nearby towns, successfully bringing in many women wishing to benefit from his healing power.
surprisingly, he tricked women into digging their own graves as part of the spiritual process. The unsuspecting women purposely left themselves buried deep in the ground, as part of the alleged healing process after which Ahmad will proceed to strangle her with a rope once it is certain they will no longer be able to run for their lives . In the event of a drought in which clients stopped materializing, Ahmad Suradji would have pursued prostitutes as victims.
